This week the weather has been fair. Today was so windy but we still had a few days of outside snack and recess. Next week is going to be so exciting because we have one day off to honor Memorial Day and a field trip on Wednesday to Plimoth Plantation. Can you believe that there are only 17 more school days left? In the next few weeks we will be wrapping up a lot of our units and also will be doing many fun school events. This past Tuesday, May 21, we also had our "teacher treat" afternoon and a few students from our grade stayed after school to play games and have some treats. We played "Hungry Hungry Hippos" in the gym. Students had a lot of fun! ELA:

This week we have started learning about a few new things and also have continued learning more about concepts we started in the weeks prior. Our first Math MCAS session was on Thursday and the students were all focused and ready. The day before the test students wrote positive quotes on sentence strips to motivate themselves and their classmates. It is a tradition that we have continued since our first ELA MCAS. Writing these quotes has helped us build a community of learners that can start their testing days with a positive mindset. Math:

This week we had two half days. We had our regular one on Tuesday and another on Thursday. Despite this change, the students were focused and ready to learn each day. We still were able to get a lot finished in our busy schedules. The weather also made it easy to stay focused for the first part of the week. Seeing the sun again was so uplifting. Math MCAS
This week we had a presentation from Barbara Johnson called "Understanding Your Differences." It focused on people who are hard of hearing. The presentation discussed ways in which to be respectful and helpful to the needs of others. It also taught us that when we do interact with people who may not hear as well we should speak slowly and clearly. We should also look at the person we are talking to. There are many ways to communicate and learning these news ways helps us acknowledge everyone's differences. Learning how to lip read, use assertive technologies, and sign language can be helpful tools. We also had a presentation from the Massachusetts Audubon Society about wood frogs and spadefoot toads. During the presentation, the students learned about the life cycle of these frogs. The students also learned about how they live and where they live. This week in Math:
