Happy New Year! We are finally back and learning again as a class. This week we have learned. . . During Literacy, we studied topics of STUDENT interest. What better way to understand the meaning of research than to research and learn about something that you are passionate about. . . Students let us know about topics that they enjoy. . . some included animals, space, Youtube, video games, sports, books, and much more! Students then generated questions about their topic and used books from the library to look up their answers! We are still working on this research project and students are really enjoying the chance to learn what they are interested about. During math, we learned how to round numbers to the closest 10. During Social Studies, we learned about a story to help us remember the shape and boundary lines of Massachusetts. The story is about a woman named "Ms. Achusetts." During P.E. we played with scooters! During library we learned about book awards such as the Caldecott Medal. This award is to the most distinguished picture book. During Art, students practiced their primary and secondary color knowledge by making their own color caterpillars. They created circles that overlapped one another and colored the larger circles with primary colors. The middle sections were then colored in using the secondary colors they created with the overlap. During writing, students are now working on typing their narratives using Google Docs. Students have been excited about using technology while learning. Some students even enjoyed some peaceful time on the swings on our playground!
During music when we practiced the recorder. . . we also were given a new song. This song is for the "blue" belt.
